Fossil Rim March '09
22/03/09 18:12
Well, I’ve finally renovated this website - which was in kinda sorry state, to be honest and I thought we might add a family blog. I can’t guarantee how often we’ll keep this up, but perhaps we will at least update it every time we add a photo album!
Right now, my brother, Mike, is visiting and we have done lots of fun stuff! So, we actually have 2 pages devoted to his visit! The “Mike Pope Visit 09” & “Fossil Rim March 09” feature Mike’s visit with us this year.
Right now I’ll just highlight Fossil Rim and after Mike’s visit, I’ll finish with a blog about that.
Fossil Rim was a lot of fun. We got up on Sunday morning, skipped church and headed south for Glen Rose, TX (home of the best Dairy Queen in the world - seriously). We got there about 11 AM and it was windy, but otherwise a VERY nice day. We got our feed and headed out to see the animals. We crowded Libby, Mike and Reid into the back of our car, rolled down the window and let the good times begin!
As you’ll see in the pictures, they mostly have deer and antelope-y sorts of animals out there. But, there are lots of zebras and several giraffes, too. (We didn’t get to feed any of the giraffes this time, which was a bummer because you can feed them right out of your hand!)
But, everything went well and at the halfway point, there is a little cafe, picnic area and children’s “petting zoo” (as well as a fully stocked gift store that is actually pretty cool). We opted to just utilize the picnic area and had a good lunch and got a good picture of the boys with a wonderful landscape view behind us.

Mark jumped in the back with Reid and Mike for the rest of the trip and we made it safely through our Texan safari with only good times to show for it.
